Coming to iOS, Android and Windows, Cows Vs Vikings offers a wonderfully whimsical take on the tower defense genre. It’s set in a Viking village where Vikings and cows once lived in harmony, with the cows even helping to cultivate the land and carry out work on the farms. This union was shattered however, after the cows started to notice some of their brethren mysteriously going missing, which seemed to coincide with an uptake in the amount of Vikings wearing ornate horned helmets. It wasn’t long before the cows twigged on what was happening and declared war on the Vikings, starting a bovine assault, hell bent on the udder destruction of the Viking village.
The cows have numbers on their side, stampeding en-masse towards your Viking village, but you have Viking ingenuity and a variety of different towers that you can use to fend them off. The gameplay follows a traditional tower defense template, with hordes of different types of cow running down pre-defined lanes in each map and you attempting to figure out the best tower placement strategy to combat them. You have a nice selection of different towers ranging from the stampede slowing Freezer, to the powerful Wizard Tower, and you’ll also have access to powerful special items that can help turn the tide of the battles – such as a Moon Rune that helps you find secret locations to build on and the Ring of the Northern King that can make your towers immune to attacks.
